Performance consulting
Smart TV app performance consulting
Scroll stutter on Tizen. Frame drops on WebOS. A Fire TV Stick that can't keep up. We find out why your TV app is slow on real devices, and fix it, whatever framework it's built with.
Sound familiar?
The problems we get called about
TV hardware is years behind the phone in your pocket, and the app that flies on your laptop crawls on the device your viewers own. These are the usual suspects:
Scrolling stutters
Rows hitch as they move, usually from garbage collection in the render loop or too many nodes alive off screen.
Frames drop on older sets
The app holds 60fps on this year's flagship and 20fps on the five-year-old TVs most of your audience has.
Memory climbs until it crashes
Leaked textures and detached nodes that never show up on a desktop build take a Samsung set down in an evening.
The first screen jitters
Layout renegotiates after the first draw, so rows visibly jump into place on a 65-inch screen.
Startup is slow
A bundle that parses instantly on a laptop takes seconds on a TV chipset before anything is on screen.
Nobody can say why
Without on-device profiling and telemetry, every fix is a guess. We start by measuring.
The Performance Audit
What you get
- ✓ Profiling on real devices. Your app is measured on TV hardware, not a desktop browser.
- ✓ A written report. Every finding explained and ranked, so your team knows what to fix first.
- ✓ Fixed scope and price. Agreed up front, before any work starts.
- ✓ Hands-on fixes if you want them. We can implement the changes alongside your team, or train them to do it.
Any web-based TV app
You don't need to be on SolidTV. Audits cover:
- ✓ LightningJS (Lightning 2 and 3) and Blits
- ✓ React, Vue and other DOM-based TV apps
- ✓ SolidTV and SolidJS
- ✓ Samsung Tizen, LG WebOS, Android TV, Fire TV and set-top boxes
Who does the work
Chris Lorenzo, creator of SolidTV
Chris spent nearly six years as a Distinguished Engineer on Comcast's Lightning team, where he pioneered the SolidJS integration for Lightning 3 and drove the component library that powers 100+ applications. He then forked the Lightning renderer and doubled its frame rate on real hardware. When your app has a performance problem, you work with him directly.

+50%
